While vacationing in Colorado this week I took photos of bikes in the towns of Salida, Cripple Creek, Gunnison and Leadville. Such a wide variety of bikes from brand new Electras and Nirves to old Schwinns and everything in between. Hardly an empty bike rack to be found. Also rare were bikes that were locked.
We also checked out the bike shops in these towns which we always try to do when traveling. 2 pages of photos here.

This was our second time to ride this great trail and our third ride at Leadville. It's a 12 mile paved trail at an elevation near 11000 feet. It loops around the town of Leadville and through several old mining operations including those of the famous Baby Doe Tabor and the Unsinkable Molly Brown. Along the trail there is old mining equipment and markers explaining the history. Afterwards we ate at the Golden Burrow Cafe which is now a tradition. We stayed the night prior and after the ride in Salida. We really should stay in Leadville to 1. contribute to their economy and 2. get better acclimated. Maybe next time.Trail website. We just missed Lance Armstrong by a couple of days. He had been in Leadville to participate in the "Leadville Trail 100" where he took 2nd place to Dave Wiens.

We each rode our oldest bikes which are Western Flyers to the Pub Pedal last night.

Not for sure what bike this will go on or if we'll build a bike for it.

The Great Muppet Caper movie collectible glass from McDonald's.

This is an e-bay deal gone bad. We purchased what was advertised as a 26" girls Spaceliner. Upon receiving the bike we find out it is a 24". We did work out a deal to get some of our money back but we're still not happy with the ordeal.

This bike has since been sold.

Made a few changes to the Racer. Swapped out the wheels the rear now a 2spd "kickback" coaster brake. This eliminated all the cabling. Changed bars and seat.

Today we rode from downtown up to our favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch.

Today the 3 of us went riding along the river and downtown.

Originaly built sometime in 2003. Newer Schwinn frame, powder coated and all new components.

This past weekend we loaded up the truck with bikes and bike parts and headed to Independence, Missouri to attend a bicycle show and swap meet.

A twin bar frame frame I'm working on. I wasn't really planning on building another bike. I recently had these wheels powder coated and I just threw this together to see how they looked on a bike. I'm kinda liking this look and may keep it around. More photos.
