Just came across these old photos of Nova from a October 2002 trip to the west coast. I believe this was in Santa Cruz. We toured the city on it's bike routes. I remember eating the best salmon sandwich at this place out on this pier. Later in the trip on our way home we stopped off in Vegas for a night and Nova's bike was stolen from the back of the truck.
On this trip we also rode in Moab, Utah, the Bizz Johnson rail-to-trail in California and around South Lake Tahoe.
We had originally planned on taking our mountain bikes to Wyoming to ride a rail-to-trail but the weather didn't look good so we did a 180 with our direction and bikes and went to Galveston, Texas. Spent a couple of days cruising the sea wall along the gulf. We also checked out a great bike shop there called Island Bicycle.
Stayed at the new Holiday Inn Express on the Sea Wall. Some of the places we ate at were Gaido's, Yaga's, Fish Tail's and Tortuga. The island was still pretty tore up from the hurricane.
Instead of riding rails-to-trails this vacation we're doing a little "beach cruising". Here our photos from our rides around Mission & Ocean Beach (San Diego).
Along with my parents we drove to Vancouver Island, BC, Canada to ride the Galloping Goose rail-to-trail. On the way up we rode the Route of the Hiawatha with Dad who rented a bike. On the way back we rode the Olympic Discovery Trail and the Trail of the Coeur D'Alenes. My parents shuttled our vehicle for us on these rides so we could ride one way.
