I'm helping a friend who is putting on this first time swap meet. This is the poster I put together for it.

Today Nova and I along with our bicycle club attended the Partridge Pedal party in the small town of Partridge Kansas (pop 250). One of the events is riding in the parade which goes the length of the town's dirt road main street.
This past weekend several of us from our bike club attended and participated in 2 gravity races in Oklahoma. The Great Sand Springs Derby in Sand Springs and the Rebuilding Together Construction Derby in Oklahoma City. At the Construction Derby I raced the Radio Flyer which is one of 2 cars built by our friend Thad. This particular derby requires a team of 4 push starters who have a 15 foot run to push and get the racer rolling down the hill. My team pushed me to a 2nd place win in the amateur category.
Our friend Rick at Peddlers bicycle shop in Independence, Missouri had his biannual swap and show today. Our plan was to leave yesterday and spend the night in Independence so we could get to the swap early. We waited to late to reserve a room and all the hotels were full so we just headed up this morning. It worked out ok because yesterday we heard about a charity cruise that was being held here that we attended (Courageous Cogs).
We had a great time as always. It's nice to just attend a event and not be involved in the planning and hosting of it. Thanks Rick.
Today we attended a charity event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For a $15 donation you went on a ride/cruise, received a t-shirt, bbq buffet and live music.

This weekend we again participated in and attended the 5th annual Art Of The Bicycle. This is a show of bicycles and bicycle related art put on display at an art gallery downtown.
I helped in the set up and displayed the Bike Of Frankenstein.
We drove for three days to get to Portland, Oregon to attend a bicycle event on Saturday where they preach about driving less. Aside from the guilt of the large carbon foot print we made to get there and them not serving our preferred beer, it was an awesome time! The TDF is a ballyhoo of bicycles and beer put on by the New Belgium brewery raising money for local bicycle organizations in the cities they are held. Not anti-car but pro-bike. This was our third Tour De Fat in just as many states.
I was surprised that there was not more people at the event with Portland being the bicycle city it is. I believe the TDF's we attended in Ft Collins and Tempe both had a larger turnout. The 6 mile parade ride through downtown Portland was great with the Portland Police blocking traffic the entire route.
Us and the Christmas Cruiser at the Bikes For Tots parade
Our club donated 2 new bikes to the Bikes For Tots campaign and participated in the Bikes For Tots parade. The Bikes For Tots organization collected 270 new bikes to be given to kids for Christmas.
