This is a 2005 New Belgium bike made by Electra for the New Belgium Brewing Co. New Belgium is the brewer of Fat Tire beer among others and also host of the Tour De Fat that we attend.
I purchased the bike from the original owner who won it at their place of employment. It had never been ridden and even came with the owners manual.
From what I understand New Belgium has been having bicycle manufacturers make these branded bikes since 1999. Each year it's a different style or color. Bikes were first made by Electra then Felt and this year Schwinn. These are limited production bikes and cannot be bought new. Employees of the brewery receive one after a year of employment. They are also given away to distributors/sellers who sometimes give them away to their employees in contests or to charity auctions etc...

Edit 11-28-09: After a couple rides on the bike (which rides great) I noticed the headset making a terrible noise. Took the fork off to find no grease had been used in assembly and the bottom bearing cage was mangled.
We drove for three days to get to Portland, Oregon to attend a bicycle event on Saturday where they preach about driving less. Aside from the guilt of the large carbon foot print we made to get there and them not serving our preferred beer, it was an awesome time! The TDF is a ballyhoo of bicycles and beer put on by the New Belgium brewery raising money for local bicycle organizations in the cities they are held. Not anti-car but pro-bike. This was our third Tour De Fat in just as many states.
I was surprised that there was not more people at the event with Portland being the bicycle city it is. I believe the TDF's we attended in Ft Collins and Tempe both had a larger turnout. The 6 mile parade ride through downtown Portland was great with the Portland Police blocking traffic the entire route.
Today we attended our 2nd Tour De Fat. This one in Tempe Arizona. The Tour De Fat is a bicycle parade/party/revival put on by the New Belgium Brewery. This is such a fun event!
This was the most amazing bike thing we've done yet. There was an estimated 4600 riders in the parade which could be a Guiness world record. What a great time!!
